Balanced Budget Now Montana is a grassroots movement dedicated to securing America’s economic freedom. If Montana families and our state government must live within their means, it is time to force Washington, D.C. to do the exact same.
We are advocating for a Balanced Budget Amendment (BBA) to the U.S. Constitution, utilizing Montana’s voice to curb out-of-control federal spending and protect future generations.
WHY MONTANA MATTERS IN THIS FIGHT
Montana has a proud legacy of fiscal discipline. Under our state constitution, Montana is legally required to balance its budget every legislative cycle. Our local leaders make the hard choices, live within our tax revenues, and keep our state economy stable.
Yet, Washington's skyrocketing national debt directly threatens Big Sky Country:
Fuels Local Inflation: Federal overspending devalues the hard-earned dollars of Montanans, driving up the cost of everyday necessities like groceries, fuel, and housing from Billings to Missoula.
Threatens Our Future: We are leaving an unsustainable burden of debt for our children and grandchildren to pay off.
Undermines Sovereignty: A federal fiscal collapse would jeopardize the vital matching funds our state relies on for infrastructure, education, and land management.
The ARTICLE V Solution:
When Congress refuses to restrain itself, the U.S. Constitution gives the states the power to step in. Under Article V, if two-thirds (34) of the states apply for a convention focused on a balanced budget, we can bypass congressional gridlock entirely and propose a BBA directly to the states for ratification.
Our Goal: We are actively campaigning across the Treasure State to ensure Montana's legislature remains a decisive, leading voice in calling for an Article V Balanced Budget Convention.
